During the 1930s in Beiping (a former name of Beijing), patriotic businessmen Cheng Fengtai and Shang Xirui, a famous Peking Opera talent, become close friends owing to the Peking Opera. Both of them forged ahead together with strengthened convictions to restore Peking Opera from the messy operatic environment and uphold the lofty ideal of saving the nation while the whole country is in turmoil. Finally, they wrote a legend about struggling against the hands of destiny. From a unique perspective, this play has restored the Peking Opera, what happened, and what feelings people had during those turbulent times for the whole nation.
